via%20WordPress%20%3Ca%20href%3D%22https%3A//ift.tt/2NpcEbE%22%20rel%3D%22noreferrer%20nofollow%22%3Eift.tt/2NpcEbE%3C/a%3E%0A%0ACannabis%20has%20been%20trending%20in%20the%20United%20States%20for%20one%20year%20now%20since%20the%20Farm%20Bill%20was%20passed%20in%20December%202018.%20While%20some%20people%20still%20associate%20cannabis%20to%20the%20ecstatic%20feeling%20that%20marijuana%20gives%2C%20others%20are%20more%20than%20happy%20to%20welcome%20hemp%2C%20a%20cannabis%20genus%20plant%20in%20their%20lives.%0A%0AHemp%20contains%20cannabidiol%2C%20or%20CBD%2C%20an%20anti-inflammatory%20and%20non-psychoactive%20component%20that%20has%20plenty%20of%20health%20benefits.%20CBD%20is%20widely%20known%20to%20treat%20mental%20health%20disorders%20such%20as%20stress%2C%20depression%2C%20anxiety%2C%20insomnia%2C%20epilepsy%2C%20Tourette%20and%20Alzheimer%u2019s.%20It%20is%20also%20used%20for%20aiding%20in%20inflammation%2C%20swelling%2C%20irritation%2C%20redness%2C%20injuries%2C%20acute%20pains%2C%20and%20severe%20diseases%20such%20as%20Cancer.%20%0A%0ABut%20despite%20the%20buzz%20around%20CBD%20products%20and%20their%20benefits%2C%20there%20is%20a%20consumer%20market%20that%20still%20links%20CBD%20with%20the%20taboo%20of%20marijuana.%20Scientifically%2C%20the%20chemical%20responsible%20for%20causing%20users%20to%20get%20%u201Chigh%u201D%20or%20hallucinate%20while%20smoking%20pot%20or%20weed%20is%20tetrahydrocannabinol%20or%20THC.%0A%0AThe%20U.S.%20government%20has%20set%20a%20threshold%20limit%20for%20THC%20of%200.3%25%20per%20unit%2C%20above%20which%20the%20product%20will%20be%20considered%20illegal.%20%0A%0AThe%20Barrington%20plan%20commission%20suggested%20the%20village%20to%20not%20allow%20cannabis%20dispensaries%20in%20the%20town%20when%20its%20recreational%20use%20becomes%20legal%20on%20January%201%2C%202020.%20The%20commissioners%20have%20pointed%20out%20the%20lack%20of%20interest%20by%20the%20residents%20in%20the%20decision%20and%20said%20that%20people%20have%20not%20publicly%20weighed%20in%20the%20importance%20of%20this%20issue.%20%0A%0AAnna%20Bush%2C%20Chair%20of%20Plan%20Commission%20said%20that%20when%20Barrington%20trustees%20had%20suggested%20the%20commission%20to%20conduct%20a%20public%20hearing%20for%20the%20recreational%20cannabis%20issue%2C%20the%20elected%20leaders%20had%20a%20clear%20view%20on%20whether%20to%20allow%20cannabis%20dispensaries%20or%20not.%20%0A%0AShe%20further%20stated%20that%20the%20direction%20given%20by%20the%20Village%20Board%20was%20quite%20clear%20and%20there%20was%20no%20room%20for%20possible%20confusion%20or%20question.%20%0A%0AHowever%2C%20the%20residents%20and%20other%20stakeholders%20who%20had%20attended%20the%20Plan%20Commission%20meeting%20on%20October%208%20%20where%20the%20issue%20for%20cannabis%20dispensaries%20was%20one%20of%20the%20primarily%20focused%20topics%2C%20did%20not%20speak%20on%20the%20issue%20at%20all.%20She%20added%20that%20she%20does%20not%20recall%20even%20a%20single%20person%20expressing%20their%20views%20at%20the%20hearing.%20%0A%0AResidents%20from%20nearby%20suburbs%20have%20attended%20meetings%20by%20the%20hundreds%20to%20voice%20their%20opinions%20and%20appointed%20leaders%20know%20how%20they%20feel%20about%20recreational%20cannabis%20dispensaries%20in%20their%20towns.%20But%20Barrington%20residents%20did%20not%20seem%20to%20get%20bothered%20whether%20or%20not%20the%20commission%20decides%20to%20allow%20cannabis%20dispensaries%20in%20the%20town.%20%0A%0ADue%20to%20the%20lack%20of%20participation%20and%20what%20may%20be%20called%20a%20subtle%20hint%2C%20residents%20of%20Barrington%20almost%20conveyed%20as%20if%20they%20didn%u2019t%20really%20care%20about%20this%20issue.%20None%20of%20the%20residents%20took%20a%20stand%20for%20themselves%20or%20the%20town%20to%20express%20how%20the%20public%20feels.%20%0A%0AThe%20commissioners%20finally%20decided%20to%20recommend%20to%20the%20Village%20Board%20that%20no%20cannabis-related%20businesses%20should%20be%20allowed%20in%20the%20town.%20Again%2C%20when%20the%20commissioner%u2019s%20recommendation%20was%20brought%20out%20in%20the%20Village%20Board%20meeting%20on%20October%2028%2C%20no%20individual%20stood%20up%20to%20express%20their%20concern%20about%20the%20issue.%20%0A%0AThe%20board%20will%20vote%20on%20the%20commissioner%u2019s%20decision%20in%20a%20meeting%20on%20Monday.%20The%20recommendation%20is%20to%20amend%20the%20current%20village%u2019s%20zoning%20code%20to%20ensure%20that%20any%20operational%20cannabis-related%20business%20is%20prohibited.%20%0A%0AGovernor%20J.B.%20Pritzker%20had%20signed%20the%20legislation%20back%20in%20June%2C%20legalizing%20buying%20and%20possession%20of%20up%20to%2030gms%20of%20cannabis%2C%20or%20marijuana%2C%20for%20recreational%20use%20from%20January%201%2C%202020.%20The%20legislation%20also%20stated%20that%20the%20cultivation%20and%20use%20of%20the%20drug%20for%20some%20adults%20above%20the%20age%20of%2021%20and%20older%20will%20be%20legal.%20Additionally%2C%20the%20ne
